Aha! Finally the U.S. has found what they think may be a a chemical weapons lab!

U.S. troops raided a suspected insurgent chemical weapons factory in northern Iraq, finding about 1,500 gallons of dangerous substances, the U.S. military said Saturday.

Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, a military spokesman, said 11 chemicals were found in the hideout in Mosul, 225 miles northwest of Baghdad, “which are dangerous by themselves, and mixed together they would become even more dangerous.”

It’s the first sign of those WMDs the Bush administration warned us about. But don’t expect the war’s supporters to be crowing about this discovery… because the lab was built after the invasion; “Boylan said the materials did not appear to be linked to Saddam Hussein’s ousted regime.”

Shorter George W. Bush: “We’re going to invade Iraq to protect the world from the WMDs that Iraq’s going to have as a result of our invading.”

(By the way, has anyone checked to see if CN has tracks anywhere near Mosul? Might want to look into that, guys…)
