Since I started cartooning again a year and a half ago (crikey), I’ve been using Pigma Micron markers, specifically the #05 (#08 for thick lines, #02 for thin lines, and I’ve just lost #99% of my readers right there).

But tonight I tried out a Speedball crow quill, my first dipped pen in, god, 30 years. And I can’t believe how much I love it. The expressiveness and grace of the lines, the incredible mix of control and flow… it blew me away. You’ll see the first result at OneDegree.ca tomorrow.

But just to give you an example, check out this comparison:

As Crocodile Dundee would have said if he’d been a cartoonist, “Theht’s not a line. Theht’s a line.”
