Regular readers will remember that I got all misty-eyed over the official demise of Internet Explorer for the Mac. It was like the end of Old Yeller: sure it was rabid and crazy and dangerous, but we’d had some good times.
Not so for the death of Windows Media Player, which will soon be replaced with a free QuickTime extension. WMP was a constant source of crashes and incompatibilities, when it would launch at all, and I’d be amazed if anyone (including the Mac Business Unit at Microsoft) is sorry to see it go.
