Okay everyone, hands up all who think that the Duty National Socialist Leader, Jack Layton, would put himself at the back of the queue if he (or his wife) needed an MRI. I didn’t think so.
Pragmatist very generously offers the possibility that Hawn doesn’t realize that “National Socialist” means Nazi. I’d be astonished if that’s the case; you don’t spend three decades in the Canadian Forces without learning just a little bit about the Second World War.
Plenty of comments now. Heh.
I can’t believe he hasn’t changed it yet, or at least responded.
He posted the following
Whoa, folks. Settle down. I’m sorry that people are reading something that was not intended into the term I used to describe Jack Layton. It was not a reference to anything except Jack Layton’s political philosophy. National means Canada and Socialist means a political philosophy. Period. Dot. Stop. To those who have lectured me on history, back off. I spent more than thirty years and buried more than forty friends defending your right to jump to conclusions.
Jack Layton is not a Nazi and it was never my intent to refer to him as such. Now, get back to work.
Of course, this didn’t appease (to coin a phrase) anyone.
Then, without a word of further comment (or anything to indicate that the original post had been edited, he changed “National Socialist leader” to “federal socialist leader”.
