Sometime today, ODTAA passed a milestone: for the first time ever, we’ve had more than a thousand unique visitors in a single month. (That thousandth visitor almost certainly came for the blog, by far the most popular part of the site. Which suggests I may not be promoting my tasteful nude self-portraits aggressively enough.)

Fitting that should come a day after the Northern Voices blogging conference, and all its helpful advice on building blog traffic (e.g. downloadable, printable high-resolution scans of easily convertible currencies).

But I’m a little disturbed by a trend I’ve noticed. Of all the search terms that are drawing people to the site, the top-ranked — by a 10-to-one margin — is “cheating housewives”. (Next up is “porcelain pussy”… I hope because so many people want to see Denise’s short.)

You’re probably asking the same question I am: is this an indication that the only real hope bloggers have of sustaining traffic is to threaten to pimp themselves out to lonely, frustrated spouses?
